We support a variety of community and faith-based organizations by volunteering our time and resources locally and regionally and abroad: Lancaster Outreach Center [LOC]is an interfaith social service agency committed to relieving suffering, restoring dignity, and promoting self-sufficiency by providing assistance and support in Lancaster, Wilmer, and Hutchins. Services include: emergency assistance, transportation assistance, mental health program, and special programs such as Back to School Wish List and the Giving Tree Christmas Shoppe. LOC distributes thousands of bags of groceries each year. The Client Choice Food Pantry allows clients to select food for their families, much like a trip to the grocery store. This method of distribution is more empowering for the clients, while at the same time helps to ensure better use of the food as each client is able to select the foods his or her family will enjoy. For this process to work, the Outreach Center periodically seeks the participation of area church congregations in providing specific items. To learn more: Lancaster Outreach Center Grace Presbyterian Village provides 143 units for progressive senior care, from independent retirement living to assisted living to full nursing care. Special services include 24-hour nursing, rehabilitation, and units for people with early and late stage Alzheimer's, dementia or other special care needs. The churches of Grace Presbytery, including First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, provide volunteers for special projects to improve the quality of life for the residents of Grace Presbyterian Village.
