We support a variety of community and faith-based organizations by volunteering our time and resources locally and regionally and abroad: Lancaster Outreach Center [LOC]is an interfaith social service agency committed to relieving suffering, restoring dignity, and promoting self-sufficiency by providing assistance and support in Lancaster, Wilmer, and Hutchins. Services include: emergency assistance, transportation assistance, mental health program, and special programs such as Back to School Wish List and the Giving Tree Christmas Shoppe. LOC distributes thousands of bags of groceries each year. The Client Choice Food Pantry allows clients to select food for their families, much like a trip to the grocery store. This method of distribution is more empowering for the clients, while at the same time helps to ensure better use of the food as each client is able to select the foods his or her family will enjoy. For this process to work, the Outreach Center periodically seeks the participation of area church congregations in providing specific items. To learn more: Lancaster Outreach Center The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) sponsors a variety of mission programs, including evangelism, health ministries, hunger assistance, disaster relief, and more. These missions offer aid and comfort to people around the world, including here in the U.S. We collect four special offerings throughout the year that focus on some of these specific areas: One Great Hour of Sharing, Christmas Joy, Pentecost, and Peacemaking. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is also committed to social justice. The Worldwide Ministries Division works to promote reconciliation with people of other faiths, and builds partnerships with churches and other related groups. The Congregational Ministries Division provides resources and services to assist congregations and mission workers in connecting and communicating effectively with worldwide partners in mission work. |
